Introduction to respite
In this section
Respite units are designed for adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs, who may display challenging behaviour. Each unit provides 24-hour care for planned, unplanned and emergency stays.
In this highly rewarding role, you’ll create a positive, caring and stimulating environment that meets every resident’s needs. The goal is to make sure residents enjoy fulfilling and dignified lives – and you’ll play a big part in that.
‘I have worked for Gloucestershire County Council for 27 years. I had three children whilst I was working, it was a flexible job that I could fit around my childcare which was really useful and important to me. The good thing about working for Gloucestershire County Council is there are loads of opportunities – there are so many different directions your career can go in. Working in Social Care is the most important job you can do, I feel quite passionate because your actually really making a difference to people.’ - Assistant Head of Adult Social Care Support Services
