When can I ask for my information to be erased or restricted?

If the council holds your personal information, you can ask for it to be erased or restricted at any point.

You have the right to have your personal data erased if:

  • We have to erase your personal data in order to comply with a legal obligation.
  • We have used your personal data to offer information society services.

You also have the right to request that the use or storage of your data is restricted, in any way you choose, if:

  • You have contested the accuracy of your personal data.
  • The use or storage of your data is unlawful and you don’t want us to delete it.
  • We no longer need the data but you need us to keep the data for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims .
  • You have objected to the processing and are awaiting the outcome of our review of your request.
