Personal Safety Guidance for Councillors
Personal Safety Guidance for Councillors
This webpage provides information and advice for county councillors to help protect and promote their health, safety and wellbeing. This guide is structured in sections that cover the main activities of councillors, so the information is easy to access.
We recommend councillors review the advice and always try to to be aware of their surroundings and think about safety whatever their activity.
There are two areas covered by this guidance:
- general health and safety; and
- managing risks when working in the community.
The Local Government Association councillor workbook Health and Safety in the Council is recommended reading. It is concise but wide-ranging and touches upon personal safety and details how decision making may influence risk areas.
