Becoming a councillor
To stand as a candidate for public office you must meet certain criteria. You can find the relevant guidance for each type of election published by the Electoral Commission here:
- Local government elections (covering Gloucestershire county and district councils)
- Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner election
- Parish council elections
- Parliamentary (general) election
To stand as a candidate for council elections on 1 May 2025 completed nomination papers and consent to nomination must be delivered to your local council by 4pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
