 Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service (EPS)

Gloucestershire’s Educational Psychologists support the Local Authority in offering a comprehensive psychology service across Gloucestershire’s schools and educational settings, for children and young people across the age range (0 – 25 years).

Our team of Educational Psychologists use their knowledge of psychology and child development to promote young people's development, learning and wellbeing. We work with educational settings, families, health and social care partners, and other organisations.

The EPS work closely with the Advisory Teaching Service under our umbrella organisation, STEPS (Specialist Teaching and Educational Psychology Service). 

The Service has four locality teams based in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Forest of Dean, and Stroud.

Support for Education Settings

Are you in an educational setting in Gloucestershire receiving visiting support from one of our EPs? 

We have found that is it most useful for schools/settings, when consulting with their EP about children and young people's needs, to think about this process:

1. Discuss your thoughts and concerns with your EP first, in particular what you would like from their involvement.
2. Following agreement, complete our EPS Consent for Involvement Form and ensure it is signed by the parent(s)/person with parental responsibility.  Please also share our Parent Information Leaflet  and Privacy Notice** with them.
3. Once signed, return the EPS Consent for Involvement form to your EP.

You can discuss this further with your EP at your school planning meetings.

Information for Parents

As a psychology service, we plan for and agree our involvement in schools and other educational settings through our planning model. If you are a parent/carer and think that your child would benefit from EP involvement, this can be discussed with the relevant member of staff at your child's educational setting. 

This is usually the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo), or the Headteacher.
