Independent advocacy services commissioned by GCC

Gloucestershire County Council Adult Social Care (GCC) commissions the following types of independent advocacy to meet its statutory duties:

• Independent care act advocacy
• Independent mental capacity advocacy
• Relevant persons representatives (DoLS)
• Independent mental health advocacy
• Independent health complaints advocacy

We are committed to supporting people to be active partners in social care decisions that affect them. From the first point of contact with Adult Social Care, we will support people to:

• understand how the social care system works;
• express their wishes and feelings;
• weigh up their options; and
• make their own decisions.

We commission services with PohWER to supply the above services.
