DFG application process
Following your assessment and referral by an Occupational Therapist, a grant officer may visit your property to check it is practical to adapt it in the ways identified by the assessment.
Your district council may contact you to provisionally calculate the amount, if any, of grant you may be entitled to.
The grant amount depends on your household income and any savings over £6,000. Only the income and savings of the disabled person and their spouse or partner are considered. You won’t have to contribute towards the cost if you receive certain means-tested benefits. Disabled children and young people under 19 are not means-tested.
You will then be asked by your district council to complete a grant application form.
For an indication of what you may need to contribute, you might like to use the DFG eligibility self-assessment tool on the Foundations website.
