DFG award process

If your major works project is agreed in principle it may be necessary to appoint a professional agent to assist you with the application process and to manage the project. The cost of the agent can be covered by the grant, subject to your grant limit and only one agent may be appointed to any grant.

Your grant package should contain a specification for the work that has been drawn up by the Occupational Therapist and all relevant information that is needed for the builder/contractor to give a detailed and accurate quote.

If you then receive written notification from the council of your successful grant award, you can begin work on the home adaptations agreed.

You must wait for this confirmation before any work is commenced on the adaptationThe grant will not cover work that has already started.

Agent/contractor information and resources

If you need help finding a suitable contractor or agent, you can use the Project Managers (Agents) List for Gloucestershire. You can also find vetted contractors and builders using Trustmark (Government endorsed) and Buy with Confidence (Trading Standards initiative).

Take a look at our Disabled Facilities Grant professional services guidance to view the agreement that hired agents/contractors (that are grant aided) will be expected to operate under.

If your organisation/company would like to be considered for inclusion on our Project Managers (Agents) DFG List, please submit our Project Manager/Agents Form. We will follow due process and confirm whether your application meets the necessary requirements to be listed as a Project Manager/Agent.
