This title means we have a leadership and coordinating role for flood risk across the county from surface water runoff, ordinary watercourses and groundwater. In addition GCC has a responsibility for managing flood risk from the highway network and planning for emergencies. The 2010 legislation also gave GCC the statutory duty to develop and maintain a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy. The Strategy sets out how GCC will aim to manage flood risk in partnership across Gloucestershire over the next 10 years.

As part of the Strategy, GCC has identified the most vulnerable locations for flood risk and these remain our highest priority for seeking viable and cost effective solutions.  We recognise that there are many other locations at risk of flooding and we will continue to try to put in place measures to reduce any potential impact in these locations as funding and resources permit.

On an annual basis we will prepare and publish an Annual Progress and Implementation Plan that will set out:

• A summary of progress since the previous annual progress and implementation plan was published;
• An up to date prioritisation list based on most vulnerable locations for the forthcoming year, and;
• An up to date list of the actions carried out in each parish
