About Climate Leadership Gloucestershire (CLG)

Climate Leadership Gloucestershire (CLG) is an innovative public sector partnership of all the county’s councils, NHS, police and academia institutions collaborating to develop solutions to tackle the climate emergency.

CLG vision statement

We recognise the joint climate and ecological emergency and are committed to working in partnership to reach net zero as a county, by 2045 at the latest.

To achieve this we will:

  • Encourage local innovation and investment in low carbon initiatives and net zero homes to future proof our economy by supporting communities and businesses to decarbonise and adapt
  • Ensure that our excellent educational institutions feed the development of local skills and green jobs supporting local centres of excellence including in agritech and retrofit
  • Attract visitors and investment to truly become a Greener Gloucestershire and a place which is healthy, green and prosperous for our residents and visitors alike

 Objectives

  1. To develop and own a countywide action plan to tackle the most strategic and cross cutting climate change issues for Gloucestershire
  2. To integrate climate considerations into the plans and strategies developed by partners

CLG non-voting members

In February 2024 CLG approved a new non-voting member status, having acknowledged that there were important public and community sector partners not represented on CLG, who'd have a valuable role in increasing community engagement, contributing to CLG’s evidence, and assisting with delivery of key projects. Non-voting members do not contribute to CLG budgets and therefore don't have a vote in determining any CLG actions and funding decisions. However, they provide comment, insight and support on CLG actions.
