Gloucestershire’s Local Development Guide 2025
Gloucestershire County Council’s Local Development Guide (LDG) provides information to Local Planning Authorities, developers, and stakeholders about the infrastructure it needs to mitigate the impacts of new developments. The LDG is used by Local Planning Authorities when creating development plans and supplementary planning documents and by the Gloucestershire County Council for consultation responses on planning applications.
The guide covers various infrastructure needs such as highways, flood management, education, libraries, public health, adult social care, fire and rescue, waste and recycling, broadband, and monitoring costs. By setting out infrastructure priorities early, the LDG aims to bring consistency and certainty, reduce delays in the planning process, and help deliver new developments that are both viable and sustainable.
The LDG benefits communities by ensuring that new developments consider and mitigate their impact on existing infrastructure provided by the County Council, such as roads, schools, and community services. This helps to maintain and improve the everyday amenities that people and businesses rely on.
