Welcome message from Rob Ayliffe
Welcome to Gloucestershire - It's where we make a difference!

Thank you for your interest in becoming Gloucestershire County Council's Head of Strategic Procurement. This is a role that provides you with a real opportunity to shape our procurement strategy, deliver value for money for local residents and develop your career.
You can expect to play an influential and critical role, both in leading the future direction of the procurement team, but also in working with commissioners across the Council to design and shape the services that will improve the lives of local people.
You will be joining us at a time of significant opportunity and change. We are implementing a new integrated ERP system that will include e-tendering and a contracts register, reviewing our procurement operational model to ensure it remains fit for purpose, implementing a new purchasing support hub, strengthening our approach to contract management and commercial skills more generally as well as developing our plans for local government reorganisation. This role will place you at the heart of shaping that change.
You will lead a central team of skilled and dedicated procurement professionals, as well as supporting managers undertaking procurement activity across all council directorates. You will also be involved in a number of cross cutting, council-wide projects and initiatives. This role offers the scale, ambition and profile that will help you to develop your career.
You will be part of the Corporate Resources directorate, working closely with colleagues in Legal services to influence change and provide high quality, solution-focussed advice. We offer a competitive salary, agile working and a culture that encourages, challenges and supports individuals and teams towards continuous improvement.
Gloucestershire itself is a great place to live, including the Cotswolds and Wye Valley Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Forest of Dean, Stroud Valleys and the rich history of Gloucester's Cathedral and historic docks and cultural life of Cheltenham.
If you are a proven leader with an appetite for driving change across procurement, we would love to hear from you.
Good Luck!
Rob Ayliffe
