Microagressions

A microaggression is a subtle comment or action, directed at a marginalised group of people, that is unintentionally offensive or unconsciously reinforces a stereotype. It can be intentional or accidental.

The impact of these microaggressions is that the people who experience them are often left feeling powerless and afraid to speak out. Long-term exposure to microaggressions has been associated with symptoms of depression and anxiety, possibly due to the impact that they have on self-esteem.
