What happens after a referral to Prevent is made?
The Police Prevent Team will assess the case according to the Channel Vulnerability Framework and if the individual referred is vulnerable to radicalisation then the case will be referred to Gloucestershire County Council’s Channel Panel. At this panel partners will work together to support the individual who is vulnerable to radicalisation and will provide tailored safeguarding measures to support their needs. This support can come from a variety of agencies i.e. local authority, healthcare providers, probation, police and members of the community. The earlier the channel intervention, the more likely it is to be effective. Making a referral at the earliest opportunity is advisable.
