Funding opportunities

If you have an idea or project which can support the Armed Forces Community, here are some options for extra support.

Force for Change programme

Grants of up to £15,000 are available for community projects that reduce isolation and promote integration in local Armed Forces communities.

Who can apply:

  • Registered charities or Community Interest Companies (CICs) with at least one year of experience supporting Armed Forces communities
  • Armed Forces units or bases
  • Local authorities
  • Schools
  • Statutory bodies that deliver or coordinate NHS care

Reaching and Supporting Armed Forces Communities 

Grants of up to £100,000 over three years for targeted projects that address both visible and hidden needs in Armed Forces communities.

Who can apply:

  • Registered charities
  • CICs
  • Armed Forces units

Development Grants Programme

 Grants of up to £25,000 for up to one year to support the development of new build projects that provide high-quality housing support for veterans.

Who can apply:

  • Registered charities that support veterans
  • Registered social housing providers that support veterans

Refurbishment Grants Programme

Grants of up to £75,000 to support the refurbishment or extension of rental accommodation for veterans in housing need.

  • Registered charities that support veterans

Armed Forces Families Fund: Early Years programme

Grants between £5,000 and £80,000 for projects that enhance early childhood education and childcare for young children from Armed Forces families.

Who can apply:

  • Early years providers based on Defence Estates or within five miles of where Armed Forces families live or work
  • Local authorities providing training to early years providers in these areas
  • Organisations offering childminder training for those working with Service children near or on Defence Estates

Veterans Career Development Fund

Grants of up to £70,000 for projects lasting up to two years that help veterans and their families gain qualifications and training for long-term employment.

Who can apply:

  • UK universities
  • Registered UK charities (with at least three years of published accounts)
  • UK-registered CICs (with at least three years of published accounts)

Applicants must also involve an experienced provider of accredited, industry-relevant qualifications.

Major Capital Grants Programme

Grants between £75,000 and £500,000 for significant refurbishment, extensions, or new builds that provide rental accommodation for veterans in housing need.

Who can apply:

  • Registered charities that support veterans
  • Registered social housing providers or registered social landlords in Scotland that support veterans

AF3: Supporting Partners Programme

Grants between £30,000 and £80,000 for projects that improve employment support for service partners and spouses.
