Grants and funding
Grants and funding, usually linked to major storms, may be made available to flood victims by the government, district councils, charities, or via an ‘Emergency Fund’ with donations from the public and businesses.
Information on such funding will be made available via council websites, social media and the local media as appropriate.

Storm Henk, January 2024
Following flooding caused by Storm Henk in January 2024, the Government announced support for affected communities had been made available through the Flood Recovery Framework. This included the Property Flood Resilience (PRF) Repair Grant Scheme, which was funded by Defra and administered on their behalf by Gloucestershire County Council.
This grant was available to properties that had internally flooded during Storm Henk and provided up to £5000 per property to make homes and businesses more flood resilient and to allow them to recover more quickly from future flooding.
59 properties in Gloucestershire were able to benefit from this grant, installing a range of resistance and recoverability measures. See our advice on protecting your home for examples of steps you can take to increase your property's resilience to flooding.
Similar grants for future events might be made available at the Government's discretion.
