Steps to Create a Business Continuity Plan

Steps to Create a Business Continuity Plan

  1. Build a Team
Include people from different parts of your business to help cover all areas.
  2. Understand Your Risks
Think about what could go wrong and how it would affect your business.
  3. Put Preventative Measures in Place
Back up important files and systems. Use cloud storage and keep copies in different places. Create different ways you could still work if something went wrong. Make sure you focus on preventing harm to yourself, staff and customers.
  4. Plan Your Emergency Response
Make sure staff are safe and customers are supported. Have backup communication methods.
  5. Plan for Recovery
Know how you’ll restore services, fix problems, and get back to normal.
  6. Test the Plan
Practice regularly so everyone knows what to do. Update the plan as needed, ideally every 6 months or annually.
