Notice of Intention to Commence the Minerals and Waste Local Plan (MWLP)

Gloucestershire County Council gives notice of its intention to commence preparation of the Gloucestershire Minerals and Waste Local Plan (MWLP). This notice has been prepared in accordance with Regulation 44 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026. It provides information about the proposed plan, the area it will cover and where further information, including the plan timetable, can be found.
This notice is available to view online and at Map room, Gloucestershire County Council Offices, Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2TH during opening hours.

Local Government Reorganisation
Gloucestershire County Council is currently the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority for Gloucestershire and is responsible for preparing the Gloucestershire Minerals and Waste Local Plan.
The Government has announced proposals for local government reorganisation in Gloucestershire, under which a single unitary council is expected to replace the existing county, city, district and borough councils on 1st April 2028. Subject to these arrangements being implemented, the new unitary council will become the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority for Gloucestershire and will continue preparation of the Plan.
The proposed reorganisation will not affect the geographic area covered by the Plan. The Plan will continue to relate to the whole administrative area of Gloucestershire.
